I will share with you what I believe are the best and safest areas to stay in Phu Quoc for first-timers and tourists, along with a helpful map. I’ll also share where I stayed in Phu Quoc and recommend some of the best hotels for various budgets.

5 Safe areas to stay in Phu Quoc for first-timers and tourists

1. Duong Dong Town

Duong Dong Town is one of the best areas to stay in Phu Quoc for the first time. It is the main town on the Island located on the middle of the west coast. Its central location allows you to explore other parts of Phu Quoc easily while enjoying the amenities of a bustling town.

Duong Dong offers easy access to various facilities, including markets, shops, pharmacies, and local restaurants. You’ll find a range of services and amenities, making it convenient for first-time visitors.

The town is known for its lively atmosphere, especially during the evenings. You can explore the Duong Dong Market, which is a popular spot for enjoying local cuisine, shopping for souvenirs, and experiencing the local culture.

In this area, you can explore Duong Dong Harbor, Coi Nguon Museum, Dinh Cau beach, Cao Dai Temple, Dinh Cau Temple, Phu Quoc Pepper Gardens, and take a squid fishing tour at night. Exploring these places can give you insights into the local customs and traditions.

Mid-range ($$): Lahana Resort Phu Quoc & Spa, 4-star eco-friendly accommodation in Duong Dong town, just off the main road and walking distance to the beach. It has an outdoor infinity pool, 24-hour front desk, kid’s club, and Motorbike/car rental services. Close to shops, restaurants and bars. 

Budget ($): Sea Star Resort, great 3-star resort in central location, a few mins walk from the beach, many bars, restaurants and supermarkets. Breakfast has a large selection of western and Asian foods. The hotel has currency exchange, laundry services, and tour activities.


2. Bãi Trường/ Long Beach

Bãi Trường, also known as Long Beach, is one of the most popular and well-developed beach areas on Phu Quoc Island. It is an excellent choice for those who want a lively beach experience with a range of amenities and easy access to the island’s main town.

Long Beach is known for its long stretch of white sand and clear turquoise waters. It provides a picturesque setting, making it a great place for sunbathing, swimming, and enjoying water activities.

Budget ($): MTown Hotel & Residences Phu Quoc – Long Beach Centre, 3-star good value for money accommodation located  in front of the night market , within walking distance to the beach. It has comfortable family rooms, an outdoor pool, garden, 24-hour front desk, and airport transfers.


3. Bai Dai Beach/ Ganh Dau

Bai Dai Beach, located in the Ganh Dau area of Phu Quoc Island, is known for its pristine and less crowded environment. If you prefer a quiet and laid-back atmosphere, Bai Dai is a great choice. 

This area is a great base for families. It is close to Vinpearl Safari, a popular wildlife conservation park on the island. Vinpearl Land is also in this area, offering activities for both adults and children.

Best places to stay in Phu Quoc in Bai Dai Beach:

Luxury ($$$): Melia Vinpearl Phu Quoc, 5-star beachfront hotel, offering free airport shuttle services and a private beach area in Ganh Dau. Close to all vinpearl attractions like Wonderworld, safari, grand world. Great place for families with kids, featuring a kid’s club and spacious family rooms. The villa is comfortable, modern and clean.

Luxury ($$$): Radisson Blu Resort Phu Quoc, 5-star hotel in the beachfront area, featuring free airport transfer, a shuttle to Grand World , comfortable family rooms, and private beach. 10 mins to grab a taxi ride to the Pearl farm. Grand World has VinBus for Safari, Vin wonders and Duong Dong.

Mid-range ($$):  Vinholidays Fiesta Phu Quoc, 4-star accommodation, located in Ganh Dau Cua Can,   next to Grand World and near the beach. It has free private parking, an outdoor pool, 24-hour front desk, and kids’ club. Great base to explore the North side of the island and attractions like Vinpearl Safari, Vin Wonder amusement Park and Grand World.


4. Bai Khem Beach/ An Thoi

Bai Khem Beach, located in the An Thoi area of Phu Quoc, is known for its beautiful white sand and clear turquoise waters. It is a great base for a peaceful and serene beach environment.

An Thoi is home to the world’s longest non-stop three-way cable car, which provides panoramic views of the surrounding islands and seas. This can be a unique and enjoyable experience.

The An Thoi Archipelago, located nearby, is known for excellent snorkeling opportunities. You can explore vibrant coral reefs and diverse marine life in this area.

Luxury ($$$):  New World Phu Quoc Resort, 5-star beachfront resort that has a private beach, close to Sunset Town. It features an outdoor pool, a fitness center and garden.

Budget ($): Ann Hotel & Spa Phu Quoc, great 3-star  well-kept hotel,offering new clean comfortable rooms. Few steps from Khem Beach, it has an onsite restaurant, bar and a private beach area. 


5. Ong Lang Beach

Bai Dai Beach is located just north of Dong Duong, so you can easily explore places like the Night Market or Duong Dong Town while still enjoying a quieter base.

Best places to stay in Phu Quoc in Ong Lang Beach:

Luxury ($$$): Mövenpick Resort Waverly Phu Quoc, 5-star seafront hotel, located close to Ong Lang, featuring a swimming pool, free parking,and a garden. The beach is a nice place to swim and sunbathe. They have a good buffet breakfast and spacious rooms.

Mid-range ($$): Camia Resort & Spa, 4-star accommodation located on Lot 3 Ong Lang Hamlet. It has an amazing private beach, infinity pool, comfortable rooms, and gorgeous sunsets view.

Budget ($): Phu Quoc Eco Beach Resort, 3-star beachfront accommodation with a private beach area, situated at Ong Lang Beach. It has laundry services, tour booking, motorbike/bicycle rental services.
