Where to stay in Hanoi for families with kids: 4 Best areas

Hi guys, on my website, I already wrote an article about safe areas in Hanoi for first-timers (I will put the link to it at the end of this article). In today’s article, I will help you to find the best places to stay in Hanoi for families with kids.

I will share with you what I believe are the best areas to stay in Hanoi for families, along with a map. I’ll also share where I stayed in Hanoi and recommend some of the best family-friendly hotels in Hanoi for various budgets.

Hanoi is the capital city of Vietnam, located in the northern part of the country. It is a vibrant and historic city known for its rich culture, French colonial architecture, bustling streets, and delicious cuisine.

Some of the highlights of Hanoi include the Old Quarter, with its narrow streets filled with ancient temples, bustling markets, and street food vendors. Hoan Kiem Lake, located in the heart of the city, is a tranquil oasis where locals gather for leisure activities and relaxation.

Other must-visit attractions include the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the Temple of Literature, and the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long, all of which offer insights into Vietnam’s rich cultural heritage.

The city has a vibrant culinary scene, with countless restaurants, street food stalls, and markets serving up delicious Vietnamese cuisine. From pho (noodle soup) to banh mi (Vietnamese sandwich) to fresh seafood dishes, there’s something to satisfy every palate in Hanoi.

Hanoi serves as a gateway to many fascinating destinations in northern Vietnam. Many tours to popular destinations depart from here, including Ha Long Bay, Ninh Binh, and Sapa.

Is Hanoi a good place to visit with family?

Yes, Hanoi is a fantastic destination for a family trip. Your family can explore historical sites, enjoy delicious street food, watch water puppet shows, take day trips to places like HaLong Bay, Tam Coc, or the Perfume Pagoda.

Where to stay in Hanoi for families with kids?

The best areas to stay in Hanoi for families with kids include Old Quarter, Tay Ho, Ba Dinh, and Hai Ba Trung district. These areas offer a variety of family-friendly accommodations for all budgets and needs.

In general, The Old Quarter is the most popular area in Hanoi for families to book their accommodations. It is best suited for those who want to be in the heart of the action. This area has the highest concentrations of accommodations, and tourist amenities, so your family will have lots of choices.

You can consider staying in Tay Ho, Ba Dinh, and Hai Ba Trung District if you prefer a more residential atmosphere, quieter, bigger rooms, and more budget-friendly accommodations. The downside is that you will need to travel to the old town where most touristy things are located.

Many expats and long-term travelers stay in Tay Ho, Ba Dinh, and Hai Ba Trung. They are huge districts, so if you plan to stay in these areas, I suggest choosing a hotel closer to the old quarter for easy access to major attractions.

On one of my trips to Hanoi, I stayed at the mid-range Scent Premium Hotel. It was a good value for money hotel in the heart of the Old Quarter, so you’ll be within walking distance or a short Grab taxi ride to most things. Rooms are compact (like most hotels in the old quarter) but clean and comfortable.

Below is a map of the popular areas in Hanoi for families. You can scroll down to view the live map.
