Corfu is a beautiful Greek island with a variety of places to stay, even if you don’t have access to a car. The island offers various transportation options to help you to navigate without a car including public bus, taxis, walking, and boat tours.

Corfu is served by Corfu International Airport (Ioannis Kapodistrias), 3 km from Corfu town. You can travel between the airport and Corfu Town by car, taxi, or public bus No 15 (get off at San Rocco Square in the town center).

In addition to airplanes, you can reach Corfu by ferries from Igoumenitsa port in Greece, Italy (Bari, Brindisi ports), and Albania (Sarandë port). The main port is located around 3 km from the Old Town, so you can take a bus to travel between them.

Corfu has an extensive public KTEL bus network that connects most touristy towns, beaches, port, and airport. Bus services are reliable and relatively affordable. You can pick up a bus schedule at the main bus station in Corfu Town or at your accommodation.

There are two types of bus on the island, the city blue-colored buses and the intercity green-colored buses. The Bus central station is located in Corfu Town.

Taxis are a good option for a short trip such as between the town and the airport or the harbor. They can be more expensive than other options, so it’s a good idea to agree on the fare with the driver before starting your journey or make sure the meter is running.

Renting a bicycle or a scooter is a great way to explore Corfu at your own pace. Many rental shops are available, especially in popular tourist areas.

Some areas of Corfu, particularly in the old town of Corfu Town, are best explored on foot. Walking allows you to appreciate the architecture, narrow streets, and local culture.

To explore the coastline and nearby islands, consider taking boat tours or ferries. This is especially popular for visiting places like Paxos and Antipaxos. You can find tour operators in major tourist areas or inquire at your accommodation.

Another  convenient way to explore the island without a car is joining guided tours or excursions, which often include transportation and offer insights into the local culture and history.

If there are specific places you want to visit that are not easily accessible by public transport, you can rent a car for a day or for a specific trip. Many rental agencies offer flexible options.
