Finding where to stay in Sukhumvit as a first-timer can be overwhelming. That’s why, in today’s article, I will help you to find the best places to stay in Sukhumvit for first-time visitors.

I will share with you what I believe are the best areas to stay in Sukhumvit for first-timers and tourists, along with a helpful map. I’ll also share where I stayed in Sukhumvit and recommend some of the best hotels for various budgets.

Sukhumvit is one of the major roads in Bangkok, and it is also the name of a large and vibrant district that stretches along this road. Sukhumvit Road is one of the longest roads in Thailand, running through the heart of Bangkok and beyond.

Sukhumvit is known for its lively atmosphere, diverse entertainment options, shopping malls, restaurants, and nightlife. This area is well-connected by the Skytrain BTS and subway MRT, making it easy to explore other neighborhoods and attractions of Bangkok.

The district is home to numerous bars, nightclubs, and entertainment venues, especially in the lower-numbered Sois (side streets), around Nana Plaza and Soi Cowboy, well-known red-light districts.

Sukhumvit is dotted with shopping malls and street markets. Terminal 21, Emporium, and EmQuartier are popular shopping destinations, offering a wide range of international and local brands.

The area boasts a wide range of accommodations, from budget guesthouses to luxury hotels. Many international chains have a presence along Sukhumvit, making it a convenient choice for tourists.

Sukhumvit is also a residential area with a mix of expatriates and locals. The residential sections offer a more serene environment compared to the bustling commercial areas.

Is Sukhumvit a good area to stay in Bangkok?

Yes, Sukhumvit is one of the most popular areas to stay in Bangkok. It’s a dynamic and cosmopolitan district that is best suited for those who enjoy central location, excellent public transportation connections, and lots of choices for shopping, dining, entertainment, and nightlife.

Where to stay in Sukhumvit for the first time?

The best areas to stay in Sukhumvit for first-timers and tourists are Asoke, Nana, Phrom Phong, Thonglor, and Phra Khanong. I recommend booking your accommodations close to BTS and MRT to have easy access to major attractions and amenities by trains.

In general, Asoke and Nana are great locations for a vibrant nightlife scene. Phrom Phong and Thonglor are trendy and upscale areas with a variety of hip restaurants, cafes, and bars. Phra Khanong offers a more local atmosphere and budget-friendly accommodations.

On one of my trips to Bangkok, I stayed in Sukhumvit, at the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit. The hotel has a prime location, easy access to Asok BTS and Sukhumvit MRT Stations, offering easy access to other parts of the city by trains. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. My room was spacious and comfortable with all the necessary amenities.
