When I first arrived in Melbourne, I stayed at the Clarion Suites Gateway in the CBD. I was a solo traveler at the time, but the hotel has family rooms, and welcomes children of all ages. Great base to explore the city, easy distance from shops, restaurants, and family-friendly activities.

Many iconic Melbourne attractions are within walking distance or a short tram ride, including Federation Square, Flinders Street Station, and the State Library of Victoria.
