Where to stay in Istanbul for families with kids: 4 Best areas

Hi guys, on my website, I already wrote an article about safe areas in Istanbul for first-timers (I will put the link to it at the end of this article). In today’s article, I will help you to find the best places to stay in Istanbul for families with kids.

I will share with you what I believe are the best areas to stay in Istanbul for families, along with a map. I’ll also share where I stayed in Istanbul and recommend some of the best family-friendly hotels in Istanbul for all budgets.

Istanbul is a popular tourist destination in Turkey, located in both Europe and Asia. It is divided by the Bosphorus Strait, which separates the European and Asian sides of Istanbul. The strait is a major waterway, and its shores are dotted with palaces, mansions, and fortifications.

Istanbul is home to many iconic landmarks, including the Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, and Grand Bazaar. These structures showcase a mix of Byzantine, Ottoman, and Islamic architecture.

In addition to its historical significance, Istanbul is a bustling metropolis with a modern skyline. The city is known for its lively markets, vibrant street life, and a diverse array of restaurants and cafes.

Istanbul has an extensive transportation network, including buses, trams, and a metro system. The city is also well-connected by bridges and ferries across the Bosphorus.

Is Istanbul a good place to visit with family?

Yes, absolutely. Istanbul is a great place to visit with family. Your family can visit iconic historical landmarks, take a Bosphorus cruise, try different Turkish cuisine, go shopping at Grand Bazaar, and explore family-friendly attractions such as Istanbul Aquarium, Miniaturk, and the Toy Museum.

Where to stay in Istanbul for families with kids?

The best areas to stay in Istanbul for families with kids are Sultanahmet (Old Town), Taksim (New Town), Karakoy/Galata, and Sisli. These areas have plenty of family-friendly accommodations for all budgets. They also offer easy access to major tourist attractions, amenities, and public transportation.

Sultanahmet (Old Town) is the best location for families who want a relatively calm atmosphere and proximity to historical landmarks. This area is home to the iconic Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, and Grand Bazar. Your family can easily explore all attractions on foot.

Taksim and Karakoy/Galata are great choices for families who enjoy a more modern and lively experience. These areas have good public transportation connections and a wide range of restaurants, shops, and entertainment options. Istiklal Avenue is a popular shopping street.

Sisli is a more residential and upscale area with shopping malls, restaurants, and cultural attractions. It also has good public transportation links. Less crowded than Sultanahmet or Taksim.

During my trip to Istanbul, I stayed at the HaciBayramHotel. It was a great stay in the central old town of Istanbul, a good base for sightseeing, as it is a short walk from all iconic attractions including Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and Basilica Cistern. It is also a family-friendly hotel that features Family Suites that can accommodate up to 5 family members.
