The waterfront area is part of the CBD. Great base for those who want to stay close to the river and have a village-like feel. You’ll find waterfront restaurants, galleries, and attractions like Salamanca Place.

Battery Point is  a great choice If you prefer a more historic and quaint setting. Sandy Bay offers a balance between residential tranquillity and accessibility. The University of Tasmania is located here.

During my trip to Hobart, I stayed at the Vibe Hotel Hobart. The hotel has a prime location, so I was able to explore most things on foot and organise a tour to Bruny island. Bed and room are very comfortable with stunning views of Mount Wellington. It was an easy walk from many shops, restaurants, and cafes.

The CBD is well-connected to public transportation, including buses. This makes it easy to access other parts of Hobart and the surrounding areas without a car.

Budget ($): Hadley’s Orient Hotel, great hotel in the heart of Hobart, great base for car-free travelers. Within walking distance from major sights such as Elizabeth St Mall, Hobart Museum, Constitution Dock, and Salamanca Markets. It has family rooms and a 24-hour front desk.

It is only a short walk to Salamanca and the CBD for restaurants, bars, museums, and art galleries.You will stay in a serviced apartment that has beautiful views of the River Derwent and Sullivan’s Cove. They have free parking nearby if you drive.

Budget ($): Customs House Hotel, 3-star accommodation,  centrally located in the heart of the Waterfront area, in front of the Derwent River. Only a few mins walking distance from Tasmanian Museum & Art Gallery, Salamanca Markets, MONA Ferry, and the CBD. It has fabulous breakfast and Laundry services.
