Where to stay in Antalya for first time: 6 Safe areas

Finding where to stay in Antalya as a first-time visitor can be a headache. That’s why, in today’s article, I will help you to find safe places to stay in Antalya for first-time visitors.

I will share with you what I believe are the best and safest areas to stay in Antalya for first-timers and tourists, along with a helpful map and areas to avoid. I’ll also share where I stayed in Antalya and recommend some of the best hotels for various budgets.

Antalya is a popular tourist destination of Turkey, located on the southwestern coast of the country. The city is known for its beautiful Mediterranean beaches, ancient ruins, and vibrant nightlife.

The historic city center, known as Kaleiçi, is surrounded by ancient city walls and is home to many well-preserved Ottoman houses. You will find popular historical attractions such as Hadrian’s Gate, Yivli Minare Mosque, and Antalya Museum.

Antalya has an international airport, making it easily accessible for tourists. The city is well-connected by road, and there are also bus and tram systems for local transportation.

Is Antalya safe to visit?

Yes, Antalya is overall a safe city to visit. But, as in any popular tourist destination, it’s always important to take common-sense precautions such as being aware of pickpockets, avoiding walking alone at night, and being alert if you find anyone overly friendly.

It is also recommended to monitor media for terrorist attacks, natural disasters, and severe weather such as earthquakes and floods. Always follow the advice and instructions of local authorities. You can ask the hotel staff if you are unsure about the safety of the area you’re visiting.

Where to stay in Antalya for the first time?

The best and safe areas to stay in Antalya for first-timers and tourists are Old Town Kaleici, Konyaalti Beach, Lara Beach, Belek Beach, Olympos Beach, and Alanya. While these areas are generally safe to book your accommodation, it’s recommended to always stay alert regardless of the area you’re in.

Old Town Kaleici is the best area in Antalya for first-time visitors who want a central location, and easy access to historic attractions, narrow streets, and Ottoman-era architecture. This area is home to the famous Hadrian’s Gate and the Old Harbor. It is also a good base to explore nearby beaches and ruins.

Konyaalti Beach is a great location for travelers and families who are on a beach holiday and close proximity to Antalya Old Town. This area has a blue flag beach, modern amenities, and attractions such as the Antalya Aquarium.

Lara Beach is a great area for those who want a luxury beach holiday, close proximity to Antalya Old Town, the airport, and Duden Waterfalls. Belek is best for all-inclusive resort lovers and golf enthusiasts, where you can find world-class golf courses, luxury resorts, and a relaxed atmosphere.

Olympos Beach is best suited for nature lovers, backpackers, and those who enjoy a more laid-back atmosphere. This area is known for its ancient ruins, an unspoiled environment, and treehouse accommodations.

Alanya, located a bit farther east, is a destination in itself, and you might want to plan for a longer stay. This area is home to Alanya Castle, Cleopatra Beach, vibrant bazaars, and a lively atmosphere.

During my trip to Antalya, I stayed at the Rixos Downtown Antalya. It was a great hotel located between Old Town Kaleici and Konyaalti beach, making it a great base to explore these two areas. The hotel also offers free transfers to the Land of legends. My room was spacious, clean, and comfortable.
